Friendship

Two friends were always together, whenever possible. One was a storyteller, the other content on listening to the stories his friend told. Over time, the storyteller's tales became better, became more involved, more charming. Many came to hear them. His friend was always there to listen. The storyteller's fame grew and grew, but the friendship never wavered. When he told his tales, his friend was there to listen. The day finally came when the friend grew weak, sickening from age and disease. Eventually he died.

With his death, the storyteller told no more tales. For the story does not live just in the telling, it endures in the listener.
